Do you have a series of articles Cruyff authored on his views of voetball. A friend of mine told me about them, but they are only in Dutch. Thx, Brian

This morning I went with myson to his All Star soccer tournament here in Brampton , Ontario, Canada, my son Was dissapointed that his number was already taken. He had to wear #14. AfterI explained that #14 had been one of the best 'Voetballer' in the world he felt a lot better and he almost scored a goal a la Cruyff. It brought some great memmories back for me too. Thank You Johan, #14.

Dear Johan, As far as I'm concerned, you're the best ever soccer player and I say this for various reasons. Your devestating rushes with the ball on your foot, the unsurpassed acellerations with the ball, I never saw it again. Your trade mark it was and soothing for the eyes. Your leadership was second to none, on and off the field. Your social behaviour is an example for our society, unlike Maradonna, George Best, etc. Your nickname tells it all: El Salvatore! Like Eddy Merkx's nickname: the Cannibal! Johan, thank VERY much for all the beauty you've given to us. You deserve a lot of esteem and I wish you a long, healthy and happy life. KIND regards Joop.

Read Mr Pantons analysis of the semi-final, I agree wholeheartedly. Disgusted in particular by Seedorf, most overrated player in Europe. Ajax '95 generation have lost their hunger,& by giving Advocaat the job, the Dutch FA haslost it's mind.

For the first time in 30 years I am not sad that oranje lost against portugal. On the contrary I would have been very sad had they won. The team of 2004 was the worst oranje that I have ever seen. They failed to appreciate the dutch way of football laid down by rinus Michels since 1970. It wasn't so much total voetbal - as total rubbish. Advocaat's treatment of Kluivert was suicidal and perhaps damaging for the long term health of oranje. V.nistleroy is a better striker then Kluivert granted. But Kluivert is a better exponent of the Dutch football tradition then V.Nistelroy. V.Nistelroy is the best English type of striker in the world - he is not the best dutch type of striker. Also what happened to the concept of the schaduw spits - the number 10 or 14- of previous oranje? Where was the Bergkamps, Gullits. R.de boers, Johan C? Advocaat tried to adapt the Van gaal method of Ajax 1995 of 3 wide players- without a Litmanen or a Bergkamp and worse still with the emphasis on 4 defenders rather then 3. At times the way oranje played in EK 2004, it would have been more appropriate had UEFA employed air traffic controllers rather then linesman to oversee our long ball approach. Eat your heart out Jack Charlton and the Irish teams of the late 80s! Who would have ever thought that the time would pass when we have to say a victory for Oranje in a tournament would have been a disaster for the development of exciting football. Advocaat has been a tremendous servant to Oranje but the little general time must surely have come. It would be a tragedy for Dutch football if in WK 2006 - Oranje is not there or worse still, there but playing the football that would have shamed the class of 74. The next manager for Oranje must let us return to the wonderful tradition of dutch football - that of it is better to have lost a game playing wonderful football then to have won playing the boring way. Bring back the schaduw spits. Play the dutch way of players searching for the space and lets remember the wonderful sounds of the fans of oranje shouting Annvaal. Hup holland hup.

Great insight. I have doubts as why Kluivert wasn't used at all. I think one of the reason we support the Dutch team was they were fun to watch. They don't always win, but they were entertaining. I just can't say that about their performance in Euro2004! |

Holland are doing excellent after a slow start, i have faith that they can go all the way. They may not have qualified for the 2002 World Cup, but i believe they can win Euro 2004. As you can see i have a new email address.
